IDC Foundation funding will infuse NYIT’s School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) with a collaborative “culture of making” by exploring latent potentials at the boundaries of architecture, medical and health professions across a previously untapped range of global health concerns and combining design thinking with advanced digital technologies and sophisticated fabrication equipment in state-of-the-art facilities. SoAD aspires to steward the transformation of NYIT into the holistically healthiest university in the nation where architecture and medical fields work together on unique and unprecedented research and educational activities through design and technology. The goal is to immerse our students in a transformative learning environment that advances new knowledge while blurring disciplinary boundaries and working across fields and expertise. A deep understanding of non-conventional notions of specialization in architecture and medical disciplines will be integrated with questions addressing globally significant issues.
